He made his MLB debut on April 4, 2005 for the Kansas City Royals.
After released by the Royals, he was briefly part of the Toronto Blue Jays, becoming the second Canadian in the team's starting lineup.
He married Lauren McClain on the last day of 2010.
He came from the Oakland A's to the Royals in a complex deal that also sent John Buck to the Royals from the Astros.
