American Democratic politician who began serving in the New York State Senate in 2000. He served as President Pro Tem of the New York Senate from 2009 to 2010.
He studied business administration at Fordham University and earned his MBA from Adelphi University.
In 2013, he was arrested by the FBI for federal corruption charges, including bribery.
He married Michele Lisby, with whom he had two children. He had one child in a previous relationship.
He had planned to run for Mayor of New York City after Michael Bloomberg announced that he would not be seeking re-election.
