German-born Brazilian race car driver known for winning the 2010 Stock Car Brasil championship and eventually becoming a Formula 1 television commentator. He is also known for claiming seven podium finishes in the International Formula 3000 Championship and for competing internationally in CART (Champ Car) and V8 Supercars.
Before fame
He began racing in karting at a young age in 1985 before moving into open-wheel competition in 1993. He progressed through European junior formulas during the 1990s. He competed in the International Formula 3000 Championship from 1996 to 1998 and earned seven podium finishes during that time. He won the Stock Car Brasil championship in 2010. He became a Formula 1 and Stock Car Brasil television commentator beginning in the mid-2010s after he retired from racing.
Trivia
He served as a test driver for the Williams Formula One team in the late 1990s. He has said that training in martial arts helped improve his focus and mental discipline as a racing driver. He recorded multiple race wins, pole positions, and fastest laps during his Stock Car Brasil career. He has been a Porsche Cup consultant.

He was born in Hamburg, West Germany to Brazilian parents. He has spent most of his adult life based in Brazil. He is a father.
