Before fame

She began performing in drag in 2016 after finding her creative footing in the cosplay world. She began sharing her cosplay and drag costumes on Instagram in late 2016. She won the New York cosplay lip-sync competition GeekSync in 2017 which helped establish her geek-chic drag style and launch her reputation in the city's cosplay and drag scenes. Her big break was being cast and appearing on RuPaul's Drag Race Season 16 in 2024.

She applied to RuPaul's Drag Race five times before finally being cast for Season 16. Her name Megami is inspired by Japanese pop culture including the Shin Megami Tensei video game series and the Japanese word for goddess. She is a fan of musicals and musical theater.

Her out of drag name is Jonathan Soto-Reyes. She was born in New York City and raised between Sunset Park, Brooklyn, and Staten Island. She has Puerto Rican, Mexican, and Dominican heritage.
