Miguel Uribet

Colombian lawyer and politician known for serving as a Senator of Colombia from 2022 to 2025 and previously as Secretary of Government of Bogotá. He was a leading presidential hopeful for the 2026 election from the Democratic Centre when was tragically assassinated two months after being shot during a campaign rally in 2025.

Before Fame

He earned a law degree and a master's in public policy at Colegio Los Andes. He then completed a master's in public administration at Harvard University. He won a seat on the Bogotá City Council in 2012 when he was 25 years old. He was elected Council President in 2014. He was appointed Secretary of Government in 2016. He was elected Senator in 2022.

Trivia

He was the youngest person at 30 years old to hold the post of Secretary of Government in Bogotá when he was appointed in 2016.

Family Life

His full name was Miguel Uribe Turbay. His mother was journalist Diana Turbay who died when he was just 5 years old. He was raised by his father Miguel Uribe Londoño. He was shot on June 7th, 2025, while speaking at a rally and died from his injuries on August 11th, 2025.
