Before fame
He sang in church as a child and studied fine arts at Edna Manley College and media and communications at the International University of the Caribbean before focusing fully on music. His first project Message Music was released in 2014 through VP Records, and his first song was a collaboration with Denyque called "Can't Get Enough."
Trivia
His 2024 debut album From Within earned him his first Grammy nomination for Best Reggae Album at the 2026 Grammy Awards. His debut EP Fight the Fight was released in November 2019. He was born Mortimer McPherson.
Family life
He grew up partly in the Red Hills Road area in Jamaica and also lived in St. Elizabeth for a time. He posted a tribute to his mother on Instagram in August 2025 after she had passed away.
