Moussa Diabate (Basketball)

French professional basketball player known for playing as a forward/center for the Charlotte Hornets and previously playing for the Los Angeles Clippers. He is also known for having played collegiate basketball for the University of Michigan.

Before fame

He began playing basketball when he was around 12 years old. He played for youth teams including Sporting Club Maccabi de Paris, USD Charonne, and Saint Charles de Charenton Saint Maurice before moving to the United States when he was 14 years old to pursue a higher level of competition. He attended multiple prep schools including Montverde Academy, Florida Preparatory Academy, DME Academy, and IMG Academy. He became a five-star recruit and committed to the University of Michigan in November 2020 and played for the 2021-22 season. He was drafted by the Los Angeles Clippers in June 2022. He began playing for the Charlotte Hornets in 2024.

Trivia

He earned McDonald's All-American honors in 2021, was named to the Big Ten All-Freshman Team in 2022, and received NBA G League All-Rookie Team and Third Team honors in 2023. He ranked among the top offensive rebounders per minute in the NBA in 2025.

He was born in Paris, France to Malian and Guinean parents.

He began his NBA career with the Los Angeles Clippers and was teammates with Paul George. He has played alongside LaMelo Ball on the Charlotte Hornets.
