Independent politician who served on the South Australian Legislative Council from 1997-2007. In 2007, he was elected to the Australian Senate.
He completed his legal studies at the University of Adelaide and subsequently established a South Australian law firm called Xenophon & Co.
A member of the "No Pokies" South Australian Council ticket, he campaigned against the practice of gambling.
He grew up in Adelaide, South Australia.
Like fellow politician Jenny Gardiner, he served on an Australian legislative council.
