German Brazilian political scientist, professor, author, and geopolitical analyst known for his work on global politics, BRICS, emerging powers, and the Global South, as well as for books such as The BRICS and the Future of Global Order and The Post-Western World. He is also known for serving as an associate professor of International Relations at Fundação Getulio Vargas in São Paulo as well as for his roles as a senior fellow at the Carnegie Endowment for International Peace and a researcher at Harvard's Belfer Center. He is further known for his Instagram account @oliverstuenkel and TikTok account @oliverstuenkel where he shares geopolitical analysis and commentary with a large international audience.

Before fame

He studied internationally earning a bachelor's degree from the University of Valencia in Spain, a master's in public policy from Harvard Kennedy School, and a Ph.D. in Political Science from the University of Duisburg-Essen in Germany. He also attended Western Reserve Academy. He lived in multiple countries including Venezuela, Uruguay, the United States, Spain, France, India, and Germany gaining global experience which shaped his academic and analytical work. He began publishing academic and policy-related work in the early 2010s and joined Fundação Getulio Vargas as a professor and built his reputation as an expert in international relations. He published his first major book The BRICS and the Future of Global Order in 2015 followed by The Post-Western World in 2016. He began posting content on Instagram in 2017 and on TikTok in 2020.
