Before fame
He originally was a member of the Arizona indie band Asleep in the Sea which formed in 2004. He and Asleep in the Sea gained regional attention and even opened for acts like The Spinto Band in 2005 before disbanding in 2007. He created ROAR in 2010 as a solo music project. He released his first EP I Can't Handle Change in March 2010. He released his first full-length album Impossible Animals in March 2016. His big break came with the viral resurgence of his song "I Can't Handle Change" in the early 2020s on TikTok and social media, with a second wave of his breakthrough coming shortly after with "Christmas Kids" going viral in 2023.
