She apparently began performing with her parents on the Vaudeville circuit; however, she later claimed that this story was untrue and was manufactured by the studios for publicity purposes.
She teamed up with Ray McDonald in the 1949 picture, "Shamrock Hill." The two eventually married and subsequently toured the U.S. as a nightclub act.
She was married three times and had two children.
She was a frequent on-screen dance partner of Donald O'Connor. The two were nicknamed the "Mickey and Judy of B Pictures."
