Trumpet player who was the founder and leader of the Philip Jones Brass Ensemble.
He was a scholarship winner in 1944 to the Royal College of Music and went on to be the principal trumpet for many British orchestras.
He ran over his own trumpet case in 1986 and afterwards decided to retire from performing at concerts.
He was born in Bath, England.
He and Jane Seymour have both been inducted into the Order of the British Empire.
