Indian politician and Kerala Congress Party member remembered for his longtime political service in India's Kerala state and Kollam district. He helped establish a political alliance called the United Democratic Front.
He began serving in the Kerala Legislative Assembly in 1960.
In 2011, he was accused and convicted of political corruption and was sentenced to serve time in the Thiruvananthapuram prison.
He and his wife, Valsala, raised three children, including a son, K. B. Ganesh Kumar, who became a well-known actor and politician.
He and Varun Gandhi both served in the Lok Sabha (lower) house of India's Parliament.
