Ramón Glass

Dominican singer, songwriter, bandleader, and entertainer known for being the founder and frontman of the merengue group Merenglass. He is especially known for songs associated with Merenglass such as "La Mujer del Pelotero," "El Baile de la Iguana," "La Vaca," "No Te Vayas," "Mátame," "La Cosita," "Vamos a Rumbear," "Llegó el Bombero," "Me cambiaste la vida," and "Kulikitaka."

Before fame

He pursued studies in philosophy, sociology, theology, and digital communication. He moved to Mexico and began building a career as a musician and performer. He founded Merenglass in 1994 with the goal of blending Dominican merengue with Mexican audiences and culture. He spent the early years of his career performing and growing his audience in Mexico.

Trivia

He wrote the screenplay for ¡Fronteras Cruzadas! "El sueño mexicano" which is a film based on his life and career. He is known for releasing multiple albums with Merenglass including Llegó Papá, 20 Años... Como sí nada, Bandarengue, Merenglass desde el Auditorio Nacional, Mirándote, Marca Registrada, #MTM (En Vivo Desde el Metropólitan), and Merenglass 30-30 (Lado A). HIs group Merenglass won the Premio Soberano 2025 in the category for artist or group residing abroad.

Family life

His full name given to him by his parents is Ramón Antonio Glass Santana. He was born and raised in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic before he built his life and career in Mexico.
