Member of the Colorado Party and prominent Uruguayan journalist and political leader.
His first victory came in 1950, when he was elected deputy in List 14, the leader of which was César Batlle Pacheco.
He served as Parliament President of the Electoral Court after being appointed in 1985. He resigned from the post in 1990.
His family was residing in San Jose when he was born; he died in Montevideo.
He co-founded List 99 with Zelmar Michelini, but eventually they had a falling out over political differences.
