Sarah Balabagan

About

Filipino woman who was imprisoned in the United Arab Emirates for the 1994 stabbing death of her employer, Almas Mohammed al-Baloushi. She claimed he tried to rape her and she acted in self-defense.

Before fame

At 14, she moved to the UAE to work as a domestic helper for a widower with four sons. 

Trivia

At her third trial, she was sentenced to a year's imprisonment and 100 strokes of the cane. She returned to the Philippines in 1996.

Family life

She grew up in a poor family. She had 13 siblings.
