She grew up playing the trumpet at church and later on upgraded to playing the trombone as a member of her high school orchestra at the Oprah Winfrey Leadership for Girls school. She holds two degrees from Rhodes University; a BSS in Psychology, Economics, and Dramatic Arts as well as an Honors Degree in Dramatic Arts.
