Conceptual artist and photographer known for creating CLITERACY, a globally recognized art project that challenges cultural ignorance around female anatomy and bodily autonomy. She is also known for having her work exhibited internationally at institutions such as Sotheby's, the Leslie-Lohman Museum, Aperture Gallery, and the Samek Art Museum. She is further known for her earlier photographic series Modern Dandy which explored masculinity and gender presentation.
Before fame
She earned a BA in Government from Smith College before completing an MA in Photography through New York University and the International Center of Photography. She initially focused on how bodies are read and coded by society and developing projects that examined gender, power, and visual identity. Her 2011 series Modern Dandy used photography to question ideals of masculinity and aesthetic norms. She launched CLITERACY in 2012 beginning with CLITERACY: 100 Natural Laws.

She has received honors such as a Van Lier Fellowship, PDN's Curator Award, the Griffin Museum's Critic's Pick Award, and recognition from Creative Capital. She is a 2020 inaugural grantee of the Crave Foundation. She has created neon signs, public monuments, billboards, jewelry, flags, posters, trophies, and other everyday objects.
