Before Fame

She started playing the violin in fourth grade, learning it by ear. After leaving the pop duo N2 of which her sister was the other half, she moved to Los Angeles at 19 to pursue a solo music career. 

Trivia

While living in Los Angeles and making her own music, she studied ethnomusicology at Pasadena College. She has expressed particular interest in the history of the violin, especially as it relates to Africa. Throughout her career, she has been inspired by Irish music and African musicians such as Francis Bebey, and Asim Gorashi.

Family Life

Her birth name is Brittney Denise Parks and she was born in Cincinnati, Ohio. She has a twin sister named Cat. She's been romantically linked to rapper James McCall, also known as "Nocando."
