About
Malawian professional soccer player best known for playing as a forward on the Kansas City Current within the National Women's Soccer League. She has also served as the captain of the Malawi national team. After her 2024 NWSL debut, she made history when she set the single-season goal record for the entire league with 21 goals for the Current. In her premiere season, her dominant performance helped her earn both the league's MVP and Golden Boot honors.
Before Fame
She was initially inspired to pursue soccer by her older sister, Tabitha, who is also a professional soccer player. They both grew up playing soccer on the fields in their village. In 2016, she made her senior international debut for Malawi when she was only 18 years old. She went on to score her first goal, against Zambia, later that same year.
Trivia
With 63 total goals for the year, she finished 2023 as the top goal scorer in the entire world, having recorded more than even Cristiano Ronaldo that year. She also made history when she became the first-ever NWSL player to score against all 13 teams in one season.
Family Life
She was born the youngest of five children. Her name, Temwa, means "love" in her native Tumbuka language.
