Mass murderer who opened fire on students at Chardon High School on February 27, 2012, killing three and seriously injuring two others. He was eventually sentenced to three consecutive life terms in prison for his crimes.
He was a student at the alternative school Lake Academy at the time of the murders. He was previously arrested twice in 2009 for violent incidents.
He escaped from his minimum security prison in Lima, Ohio in September 2014 only to be caught about 100 yards from the prison, yielding a pitchfork.
His father, Thomas M. Lane, Jr., was charged with attempted murder in 2002 and served jail time for assault and disruption.
He and Eric Harris, one of the boys responsible for the 1999 killings at Columbine High School, are perpetrators of two of the most infamous school shootings in recent American history.
