Before Fame
He grew up with a passion for music and learned how to play multiple instruments. He studied at the University of Bucharest and graduated with a Bachelor's degree in Psychology. He played the drums in the band Copiii Florilor (The Flower Children) in high school. He also performed with Carmen Marin as the duo Vali și Carmen. His official debut occurred in 1973 at the Ballads' Spring Festival, where he received the Best Song Award for his single "Nopți."
Trivia
He established a record company named B'Inișor in 1993 with the goal of promoting Romanian music. He played the guitar, drums, piano, keyboard, harmonica, violin, and percussion.
Family Life
His early exposure to music came through his father, a mathematics and music teacher, who inspired his passion for the arts. He was married to psychologist Lucia Sterian, and they had a son named Oliver who became the drummer for the Romanian rock band Voltaj. He died on September 16th, 2000, from cancer.
