Feminist economist and academic largely acknowledged for her protest of Brexit and her bold support of women's rights. She has written several books including, "The Sex Factor: How Women Made the West Rich" (2019) and, "Naked Feminism: Breaking the Cult of Female Modesty" (2023). She has been a regular economic contributor to Bloomberg View, The Guardian, The Telegraph, and several additional radio and news programs.

Before Fame

She was inspired to study economics after witnessing firsthand the effects of economic disparity. Her parents lost their jobs and her sisters dropped out of school. She studied economics at the University of Cambridge before going on to earn a master's degree in economics and economic history, as well as a doctoral degree in economics from the University of Oxford.

Trivia

As a protest of Brexit, she attended a 2016 Cambridge University Faculty of Economics meeting in the nude with the words, "Brexit Leaves Britain Naked" written across her upper body. She delivered an anti-Brexit lecture in 2019 while naked as well, before also appearing nude at a conference for the Royal Economic Society.

Family Life

She is married to her husband James Bateman, whom she met while they were both attending Cambridge University. She has two younger sisters.

She made headlines after stripping naked during a broadcast interview on The Today Programme for BBC Radio 4 with John Humphrys. She later stripped nude on a televised interview for Good Morning Britain, with Kate Garraway and Richard Madeley.
