Malawian inventor, engineer, and author who is known for building a wind turbine to power multiple electrical appliances in his family's house in 2001. He also gained popularity when he was invited to talk as a guest at TEDGlobal 2007 in Arusha, Tanzania and for his book, The Boy Who Harnessed the Wind.

He was a student at African Bible College Christian Academy in Lilongwe. In 2014, he graduated from Dartmouth College.

Trivia

In 2013, he was named one of the "30 People Under 30 Changing The World" in TIME magazine. He co-founded the Moving Windmills Project, which empowers Malawian youth to implement simple technologies that ease daily burdens. He later designed a water pump powered by solar energy, which was used to supply the first drinking water to his village.

He is the son of Trywell Kamkwamba and Agnes Kamkwamba. He comes from a family of farmers.
