Middle order batsman and right arm disk-break bowler for Andhra from 1998 to 2007 who gained national attention after an unbeaten 228 for South Zone.
He made his domestic debut with Andhra in 1998.
He holds the distinction of being the first "super sub", a position which no longer exists, of an Indian cricket team.
His brother is fellow cricketer Y. Gnaneswara Rao.
He was called up to the Indian national side after captain Sourav Ganguly was suspended.
