Bulgarian gymnast who won gold medals in the still rings and floor exercise at the 2001 and 2003 at the World Artistic Gymnastics Championships. He was named Bulgarian Sportsperson of the Year in 2001 and 2003.
He was born in Plovdiv, Bulgaria and broke onto the international scene at the 1995 World Artistic Gymnastics Championships.
He was the flagbearer for his native Bulgaria at the 2012 Olympic Games in London.
He has a son named Yordan Yovchev, Jr.
He and Armenian gymnast Albert Azaryan are both multiple-time World Champions in the still rings.
