Yu Seki

About

Drummer and sampler most popularly known for being a founding member of the J-Pop and alternative rock band King Gnu, as well as the creative collective Millennium Parade. Their studio album "Ceremony" topped both the Japan Oricon Albums Chart and the Billboard Japan Hot 100 Chart after its release in 2020. They have also released #1 singles such as "Ichizu" and "Sakayume."  

Before Fame

Along with his three fellow members, he helped form the band Mrs. Vinci in 2013. They released their debut studio album "Mad Me More Softly" under the label Perimetron in 2015 before changing the name of their band to King Gnu in 2017. After being signed to Ariola Japan, they released their first studio album with the major label "Sympa" in 2019.

Trivia

His band King Gnu was named Best Japanese Act at the 2019 MTV Europe Music Awards and Best New Asian Artist (Japan) at the Mnet Asian Music Awards later that same year.

Family Life

His mother Miyuki Seki owns and manages a spice curry restaurant called Curry Casa IKYOI. He married tsugaru-shamisen band Ki&Ki member Shirafuji Hikari in October of 2019.
