Frontman of one of the most influential protopunk bands of all time, The Stooges, and who also saw success during his solo career.
He grew up in a Michigan trailer park, playing in a band called The Iguanas. The name of this band is where the nickname Iggy originated.
He is known for songs from both his time with The Stooges like "I Wanna Be Your Dog" and "Shake Appeal," as well as solo tracks like "Lust for Life" and "The Passenger."
He married Wendy Weissberg in 1968; after their annulment that same year, he married Suchi Asano in 1985.
Pop and David Bowie met at Max's Kansas City and went on to collaborate on the production of Raw Power.
