American politician who was a member of the Texas House of Representatives from 2003 to 2013. He joined the House of Representatives as a Democrat, but, in 2011, he announced that he was joining the Republican party.
He earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in political science from the University of Texas and got his J.D. from Texas Southern University School of Law.
After six terms and ten years in office, he decided not to run for re-election in 2013.
