American poet and historian best known for his work on the Encyclopedia of the Harlem Renaissance. He is also known for a 1997 poetry and short story collection entitled I Made My Boy Out of Poetry.
After attending Macalester College and Temple University, he served for two years in the U.S. Air Force.
He edited the Savannah Literary Journal from 1994-2001.
He was born and raised in Savannah, Georgia.
He wrote a series of articles on the life and death of Michael Jackson.
