Remembered for his Tigrinya-language music, this Eritrean vocalist and songwriter released four albums between 1991 and his death in 2006: Wegahta, Tesfa'iya Snqey, MsTir fQri, and Semai.
He began playing his first musical instrument when he was nine years old and released his first recording in the early 1990s on the Virgin Records-Europe label.
Tragically, he drowned at the age of forty while on location for a music video shoot.
He spent his early years in Asmara, Eritrea, and later escaped the Eritrean War of Independence by moving with his family to Sudan, followed by Italy.
He and rapper Negash Ali were both born to Eritrean parents.
