Professional songwriter who is best known for having written band Maroon 5's hit, "Moves Like Jagger." He has also written "Stereo Hearts", as performed by Gym Class Heroes.
He attended George Mason University, and graduated with an English degree. He began writing and performing songs with bands in high school and then throughout college.
He began writing with Benny Blanco after being introduced by a childhood friend. In 2013, along with Blanco, he won the coveted BMI Pop Songwriter of the Year award for having written four of the year's most performed songs. These included the aforementioned "Moves Like Jagger" and "Stereo Hearts", as well as "Payphone" by Maroon 5.
He was born to Pakistani parents in Northern Virginia.
He cites the band Radiohead and the lead singer and songwriter Thom Yorke as one of his chief inspirations.
