Texas legend most famous as the creator and publisher of the Fort Worth Star-Telegram. He is remembered to Texans for being a major booster for Fort Worth, Texas and its surrounding areas.
He was a traveling salesman before becoming the advertising manager of The Fort Worth Star-Telegram in 1906.
In honor of his financial contributions to the school, Texas Christian University named its football stadium Amon G. Carter Stadium.
His daughter, Ruth Carter Stevenson, founded the Amon Carter Museum of American Art.
He was friends with newspaper journalist Walter Winchell.
