About

One of the nation's most admired poets and activists who was known for their political and feminist content. Their poetry focused on topics of gender, social justice, LGBTQIA+ identity, and the core ideas of life and death. Their work was featured on BBC, Air America, C-SPAN, and Free Speech. Their works included The Madness Vase, TITLE, Pansy and You Better Be Lightning. 

Before Fame

They released their first poem book, Pole Dancing to Gospel Hymns in June 2010.

Trivia

They became the first winner of the Women's World Poetry Slam. Gibson was the subject of the 2025 documentary "Come See Me in the Good Light," directed by Ryan White which documented their battle with cancer. They passed away at the age of 49 from a years-long battle with ovarian cancer.

They were born in Calais, Maine. They also lived in Boulder, Colorado. They married their longtime partner Megan Falley in 2022.
