Most well known for her work in the Mexican comedy series El Chavo del Ocho, she is also remembered for her roles in the films El Esqueleto de la Señora Morales (1960) and El Padrecito (1964).
She began her entertainment career by appearing in a Madrid theatrical production of the musical Carlo Monte en Monte Carlo.
She died in her early seventies from a smoking-related illness.
She spent her youth in Madrid, Spain, and relocated to Mexico in the late 1940s to escape the violence of the Spanish Civil War. She was the daughter of José Fernandez and Manuela Abad and the mother of Paloma Fernandez.
She shared the screen with the renowned actor Chespirito in El Chavo del Ocho, El Chapulin Colorado, and Chespirito.
