Famous for voicing Kagamine Rin and Len in Crypton Future Media's Vocaloid 2 voice synthesizer program, she is also known for providing the voices of the Futami twins in The Idolmaster video games. Also a singer, she recorded her first single, "Awake," in 2012.
In 2008, at the start of her career, she voiced Chika Koizumi in the anime series Kyo no Go no Ni.
In late December of 2010, she released a short music album titled Dreams.
Also known as Hanano Kaori, Shimoda was born and raised in Japan's Tottori Prefecture.
She was born in the same year as fellow Japanese voice actress Aki Toyosaki.
