Screenwriter who is best known for her award-winning films, The Prince of Tides and Seven Years in Tibet.
She matriculated from the creative Interlochen Fine Arts High School in 1973.
The Prince of Tides, her biggest feature, earned her an Academy Award nomination in 1992 for Best Adapted Screenplay.
She was raised in suburban Michigan, in the town of South Haven.
She worked on the documentary Jean-Michel Basquiat: The Radiant Child with director Tamra Davis.
