Republican politician who was elected to the Tennessee Senate on January 9th 2007, and was named Speaker Pro Tempore in 2011.
He received a degree in Biology from the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga in 1983 and worked as a licensed physical therapist for 26 years.
He served on the board of Relay for Life, a fundraising event for the American Cancer Society.
He and his wife Jill have one son, Grey.
He was elected Speaker Pro Tempore during the gubernatorial term of Bill Haslam, a fellow Republican.
