Bola Tinubu

Nigerian politician and the president-elect of Nigeria who assumed office in May 2023. He is also known for serving as the Governor of Lagos State from 1999 to 2007 and Senator for Lagos West during the brief Third Republic.

Before Fame

He spent his early life in southwestern Nigeria and later moved to the United States where he studied accounting at Chicago State University. He returned to Nigeria in the early 1980s and work for Mobil Nigeria as an accountant.

Trivia

In 1992, he entered politics as a Lagos West senatorial candidate under the banner of the Social Democratic Party. His officialasiwajubat Instagram account has earned over 1.1 million followers. 

Family Life

He is married to Oluremi Tinubu. They have four children named Folashade, Seyi, Jide and Abibat Tinubu. His son Jide died in October 2017.

Associated With

He became an activist campaigning for the return of democracy as a part of the National Democratic Coalition movement after dictator Sani Abacha dissolved the Senate in 1993.
