Former Georgia Tech Yellow Jacket that played college baseball at Georgia Tech from 2018 until 2021. As a junior, he was named a member of the second team All-ACC. Following his senior season, he was drafted by the Detroit Tigers as a seventh rounder.

While in high school, he played baseball and basketball. At the time, he was considered the 16th best prospect in the state of Georgia.

He made his official MLB debut while pitching against the Kansas City Royals. Unfortunately, he lost his debut by a score of 3-2. He stands six feet, six inches tall and weighs approximately 250 pounds. On March 31, 2025, Hurter recorded his first career save after tossing three innings of two-run ball in a 9-6 victory over the Seattle Mariners.
