Guard who played in the NBA from 1988 to 2003, most notably for the Los Angeles Lakers, with whom he won three straight NBA Championships with from 2000 to 2002. He became head coach of the Denver Nuggets in 2013.
He played college basketball at St. Mary's and UC Santa Barbara and was selected 24th overall in the 1988 NBA Draft by the Boston Celtics.
He received his first coaching gig as an assistant for the Lakers in 2005.
His parents and sister were tragically killed in a car accident on June 26, 1993. He married Nikki Shaw in 1998.
Star shooting guard Kobe Bryant was his teammate on the Lakers from 1999 to 2003.
