Remembered best for her comedic role as Jane Stacy on the late 1940s and early 1950s radio, film, and television series My Friend Irma, Lewis also appeared in the 1958 film The Party Crashers and in numerous stage productions at the Pasadena Playhouse.

Before pursuing work in Hollywood, she performed on a Chicago radio show called The First Nighter Program.

She was born in Spokane, Washington, and she later lived and worked in both Chicago and Los Angeles. She was married to fellow radio performer Elliott Lewis from 1943 until 1958.
