Puerto Rican politician who was elected to the Puerto Rico House of Representatives representing District 19 in 2001. In 2012, he was elected as a Representative At-Large and later became the Majority Speaker.
He attended the University of Puerto Rico at Mayaguez, where he founded the student newspaper Campus Colegial.
He received the Most Distinguished Student of the Department of Social Sciences award in college in 1986.
He was previously married to journalist Damaris Suarez, with whom he has a son.
He and Antonio Soto have both served in Puerto Rico's House of Representatives.
