Brazilian Shotokan karate master, MMA fighter, and coach known for being the co-founder of Machida Karate, a 6th-degree black belt in Shotokan karate, a black belt in Brazilian jiu-jitsu, a JKA World Championship silver medalist, and a 13-time Brazilian national kumite champion.

Before Fame

He began karate lessons and training when he was 4 years old. He built a long competitive karate career by winning more than a dozen Brazilian adult kumite titles and earning the silver medal at the 2006 JKA World Championship. He made his professional MMA debut in 2005 by scoring a TKO win at Jungle Fight 4. He then fought for Resurrection Fighting Alliance and Bellator. He moved to the United States in 2015 and opened Machida Karate Academy with Lyoto Machida in 2017.

Trivia

He has taught global seminars and is featured in the instructional program Chinzo Machida Karate Session. He served as head coach of Team Machida in 2009 when Lyoto Machida became UFC Light Heavyweight Champion, and their team went undefeated that year.

He was born in Salvador, Bahia, Brazil, to Japanese Shotokan master Yoshizo Machida and a Brazilian mother. He grew up in Belém with his brothers Take and Lyoto Machida
