American Language School poet known for Polaroid, Quartz Hearts, A Geology, and other poetry collections. His later works include Alien Tatters, This Time We are Both, and The Act of Providence.

He was married to Toni Carbo from 1962-66. After his divorce, he married Susan Hopkins, with whom he had a daughter named Cecilia.
