Foreign policy and security expert who gained fame for his debut 2018 book Messing with the Enemy: Surviving in a Social Media World of Hackers, Terrorists, Russians, and Fake News. He previously served as a US Army infantry officer and FBI special agent in the Joint Terrorism Task Force.
He graduated from the US Military Academy with his B.S. He would later earn his master's from Middlebury College, and complete US Army Ranger school.
His testimony in front of the Senate Select Committee on Intelligence on possible Russian interference in the 2016 election garnered national headlines and praise. He has worked as a Foreign Policy Research Institute fellow.
He was born and raised in O'Fallon, Missouri.
