Prominent politician who served as the First Minister of Northern Ireland from 2001 to 2002. Also a Member of Parliament, he represented Upper Bann from 1990 to 2005.
He graduated from Queen's University, Belfast.
He received the 1998 Nobel Peace Prize for his leadership of the Northern Ireland Conservative Party.
He and his second wife, Daphne Elizabeth, raised four children.
