This New Orleans lawyer was put on trial for perjury after he spoke to the Federal Bureau of Investigation and subsequently testified at the Warren Commission that a potential Lee Harvey Oswald accomplice had telephoned him immediately after President John F. Kennedy's assassination for the purpose of seeking legal representation for Oswald.
He graduated from the Tulane University Law School.
An investigation into Andrews' claims found that Clay Bertrand, the man from whom Andrews said he had received a telephone call, either did not exist or was not named Clay Bertrand. A Louisiana business executive named Clay Shaw was questioned for potential ties to the Kennedy assassination, but was later cleared of all involvement in the crime.
He grew up in Louisiana as the son of Dean and Arthemise Andrews.
Actor John Candy played Andrews in the 1991 film JFK.
