A Hindu philosopher who was associated with the Brahmo Samaj. He was the founder of the Brahmo religion.

He did not reject material possessions and had estates all over Bengal, which was contrary to Hindu tradition and philosophy.
His father was industrialist Dwarkanath Tagore.
He and writer Sri Aurobindo were both part of the Bengal Renaissance.
