Before Fame
He played football for Volcano Vista High School. He received no football scholarship offers out of high school except from two Division II schools. He then chose to begin at junior college at New Mexico Military Institute where he helped them win the NJCAA Division I National Championship in 2021. He transferred to New Mexico State for the 2022 season. He finished his New Mexico State career ranked among the school's all-time leaders in rushing yards as a quarterback and total offense. He transferred to Vanderbilt University in January 2024.
Trivia
He was named the Conference USA Offensive Player of the Year in 2023. He was recognized as SEC Newcomer of the Year in 2024.
